Prema Narayan Complete Bio & Career

Prema Narayan was employed at a convent school in Mumbai as a primary school teacher. She was simultaneously doing part-time modeling as well. She participated in beauty pageant Femina Miss India in the year 1971 and was crowned the title. The very same year, she participated in Queen of the Pacific pageant which was held in Australia and she was judged 1st runners-up of the contest. She also represented India at the coveted Miss World competition. After winning and participating in such contests, she started getting offers from Bollywood.
 
She became a sensation and was on the cover page of various prestigious female magazines. She was among the initial models who entered the field of acting after being crowned the winner of the beauty pageant. She was mostly seen doing sizzling item numbers or playing supporting roles. 
 
She refused a role offered by filmmaker B R Ishara. She finally made her acting debut in a crime thriller Bollywood film titled Manzilein Aur Bhi Hain in the year 1974 where she played the role of a prostitute. She received best-supporting actress nominations for her performance in Sharmila Tagore and Uttam Kumar film titled Amanush in 1975. She played brief and supporting roles in films like Hote, Balika Vadhu, Umrao Jaan, Justice Chaudhary and Baazi among many others. She also did various B-Grade horror films like Mangalsutra, Ghabrahat, Saat Saal Baad and Hotel among others. Her last film was Yeh Basti Badmashon Ki in the year 1999.
