Priyanka Kothari used the screen name Nisha Kothari in Bollywood films and was mostly seen in Ram Gopal Verma's film. After her studies, she relocated to Mumbai and started modeling. She came to limelight after she appeared in the music video of song Chadti Jawani. She finally made her acting debut through Tamil film Jay Jay in the year 2003. The following year, she made her Telugu film debut through the film titled Madhyanam Hathya. She made her Bollywood film debut through the film titled James in 2005. The film was a disaster at the box-office but she got noticed. She playd a small role in Rm Gopal Verma's blockbuster film Sarkar. Post that, she was seen in various Bollywood films films such as Shiva, The Killer, Go, and Agyaat among others. However all of them failed at the box-office and she returned to South Indian film industry. 
 
She made her Kannada film ddebut through the film titled Raaj-The Showman in the year 2009 The film was a huge hit and she won the Best Actress award as well for her performance in the film. Since then, she acted in various south Indian langiage films such as Dandupalya, Padam Pesum, and Bullet Rani among others. The later being her last released film which released in 2016. Post her marriage, she has taken a sabbatical from the films and is yet to return on the silver screen.
