Purushottam Laxman Deshpande was born on 08-11-1919 in Mumbai in the state of Maharashtra, India. He was an Indian Writer, Film Actor, Composer, Film Producer, Television Producer, Film Director, Music Director, Musician, Singer, Playback Singer, Theatre Actor, Theatre Director, Screenwriter, Playwright & Dramatist. He was best known for his work in Marathi cinema.

Purushottam Laxman Deshpande Complete Bio & Career

Laxman Deshpande completed his secondary education from Parle Tilak Vidyalaya and moved to Ismail Yusuf College for higher studies. After that, he went to Mumbai where he attended Government Law College and finished his degree of LLB. Then, moved to Pune where he got a degree in Arts in 1950 from Fergusson College. After that, Purushottam obtained a Master's degree of Arts from Willingdon College at Sangli. 
 
After finishing his studies, he started a job at Orient High School in Mumbai as a teacher for several years. He diverted to professor began to teach at Rani Parvati Devi College at Belgaum, Karnataka. Additionally, Laxman Deshpande also served himself as a professor at Kirti College, Mumbai. Along with this, Laxman worked for National Television Doordarshan. He was the first man who interviewed with the first prime minister of India Mr. Jawaharlal Nehru on National Television. He also took training at BBC for some years and moved to France.
 
Furthermore, Purushottam was a renowned musician, composer, Play Writer in Indian classical music. He also wrote several books such as "Kay Wattel Te Hoeel" in 1962, "Pulakit" etcetera. He also served himself as an actor in Indian cinema. He did many super hit movies of the time. Some of his films are "Kuber" in 1947, in this movie he worked as an actor and playback singer, "Ammaldar" in 1962, "Wandemataram" (1948), "Ek Hoya Vidushak" (1993), and so forth.

Previously, he was married to Sundar Divadkar, who died soon after marriage.
