Randall Darius Jackson, popularly known as Randy Jackson is a bassist, record producer, singer, television personality, and entrepreneur from the United States of America.
In the beginning of his career in the early 80’s he was associated with popular acts of Jean-Luc Ponty, Taxi, Journey, Italian pop star Zucchero and Billy Cobham. He performed in an all-star band assembled by Keith Richards for Aretha’s self-titled album in 1996. As a session musician, he has played alongside Jon Bon Jovi, Billy Joel, Bruce Springsteen, Stevie Nicks, George Benson, and many others. ‘Dance like There’s No Tomorrow’ featuring Paula Abdul and ‘Real Love’ featuring Katharine McPhee and Elliot Yamin are his well-known singles.
In his career as a record producer, he has worked with several popular artists and bands including Whitney Houston, Mariah Carey, Celine Dion, Madonna, Dionne Farris, Stryper, and Fergie. In March 2008, he released an album titled ‘Randy Jackson’s Music Club, Vol.1’, which was entirely produced by himself. He is also the manager of ‘Paper Tongues’- a Charlotte-based band. Jackson has also worked with well-known record labels like Columbia Records and MCA Records.
He also hosts an Urban AC and Mainstream AC Hits radio top 40 countdown show called ‘Randy Jackson’s Hit List’ for the Westwood One Radio Network. On the internet radio station ‘Artist Underground’, he shared American Idol’s behind-the-scenes information. He is best-known for serving as a judge on the Fox Network’s popular reality series ‘American Idol’ for twelve seasons.
