Ravi Babu Complete Bio & Career
Ravi Babu is a veteran film director, producer and actor of Telugu film industry. He was born in a filmy family and hence decided to build a career in filmmaking from a very early age. After obtaining his MBA degree, he started assisting Rajiv Menon. To become a cinematographer he enrolled for a course at the Film and Television Workshops in Rockport, Maine, but quit shortly. He was offered a job as a cameraman by the India Broadcasting Network in New York. On the job he picked up editing as a skill. His work caught the attention of some executives at Sony and they invited him to do a course at the Sony Institute in San Jose, California. After the course, Babu did a short stint at TV Asia as ENG producer and also doubled up as cameraman and editor.
After, he returned to India, he started getting acting offers and finally made his acting debut through Telugu film Maavidaakulu in the year 1998. Since then, he never looked back and became one of the most sought after actors in the Telugu film industry shortly. Some of his noted films as an actor include Love Story 1999, Sultan, Murari, Anasuya, Swamy Ra Ra, and Savitri among others. Over the years, he has portrayed different roles such as lead actor, villain and character artist as well.
His initial years in the industry as an actor were not much successful and hence he turned film director with the Telugu film Allari in the year 2002. The film was highly appreciated by the critics and the audience. His directorial films such as Nachavule and Amaravathi were among the biggest hits then and he became one of the most innovative and successful directors of Telugu film industry. His films Avunu and Avunu2 were also highly successful. His latest film Aaviri too is in huge demand even before its release.
