Reena Bhardwaj Complete Bio & Career
Reena Bharadwaj grew in London. She was academically a very broght student and hence obtained her postgraduate degree from the coveted London School of Economics. Post that, she briefly worked in corporate sector as well. She from a very age learned Kathak and western dance forms as well. She soon shifted her focus to singing and took musical lessons as well.
While she was stuying in noted composer A.R. Rahman called her to sing a song from the Bollywood movie Meenaxi: A Tale of Three Cities in the year 2004. She sang “Yeh Rishta” song from the movie which became a chartbuster. She also got nominated at various awards for the best Playback singer and thereby became the first British Asian artist to win such nomination. She then sang Tamil song "Baba Kichhu Tha" for the Tamil film Baba. She became Rahman's favourite and sang various tracks of his Bollywood and South Indian language films. She is also a regular collaborator with British Asian Composer Nitin Sawhney. She has also become his band member and has travelled extensively with him to perform at elite venues like The Royal Festival Hall and the Glastonbury Festival, WOMAD among others. She is also a regular collaborator with Basement Jaxx. Some of her noted songs include “Yeh Rishta”, “Heer”, “Everybody”, “My Soul”, and ”Khilli Re” among many others.
