Reshmi Menon was born in Kerala but raised in Chennai. She enrolled at the Women's Christian College in Chennai for Visual Communication. She always wanted to build a career in media and hence she joined this course. She and her friend went for the audition of Prakash Raj production's film Inidhu Inidhu in the year 2010. She was offered the titular role in the film. The film did average business at the box-office and her performance recieved mix reviews. Though this film helped her to make a career in film industry as she became regular in Tamil film industry since then. It was Tamil film Burma which helped her establish herself in the Tamil industry. The following year, she was seen in Tamil thriller film Urumeen which did well at the box-office. She has worked in few other Tamil films after that such as Natpadhigaram 79, Bayama Irukku, and Saravanakumar.
