Satabdi Roy began her career as an actress in the Tollywood film industry and rose from ranks in a short time to become one of the most sought-after actresses. She is a highly successful actress and has bagged few best actress awards for her splendid performance in Bengali film industry. Satabdi Roy has worked with almost all the noted Bengali film directors like Tapas Pal, Chironjeet, Prosenjit Chatterjee, Abhishek Chatterjee and also with the top actors in Tollywood film Industry. She made her acting debut with Tapan Sinha’s Bengali film Atanka. She was last seen in Fight 1:1 in 2011.
After enjoying a highly successful acting career in film industry, she made her foray into politics by joining Mamta Banerjee’s political party Trinamool Congress. She got elected as an MP in 2009 general elections from Birbhum constituency of West Bengal. She once again got elected as an MP in the 2014 general elections as well and is currently serving as an MP.
