Sauraseni Maitra was born and grew up in Kolkata. She did her schooling at The BSS School under Ballygunge Siksha Samity in Kolkata. Later, she completed her graduation from the University of Calcutta. She entered into the showbig industry at her early age of 9-10. She did ramp walk for Pantaloons at the age of 10.
She made her acting debut at the age of 15 in the Bengali film 'Chittagong' in 2012 as young Aparna. Later, she was seen in director Prashant Nair's Hindi comedy-drama film 'Umrika' in 2015 as Radhika. Next, she appeared in several Bengali films such as MachherJhol, MeghnadBadhRahasya, GenerationAmi, ByomkeshGotro, AamiAshboPhirey, FinallyBhalobasha, Ekannoborti, Maayakumari, and ShotyiBoleShotyiKichhuNei.
In 2020, she made her debut on the OTT platform and appeared in the Bengali web series 'Break Up Story' as Shreya. The web series was aired on Hoichoi. In 2023, she appeared in Benagli web series 'Shabash Feluda' and Hindi web series 'Taj: Divided by Blood'.
