Serena Williams Complete Bio & Career

Serena Williams’s father introduced her to tennis at a very young age. She along with her elder sister Venus used to practice two hours daily with her father. She along with her sister toiled hard from a very early age. Her father realized that their daughters need superior training and therefore, her father took her to Florida.
 
She turned pro in the year 1995 and soon rose from ranks to win her first grand slam in the year 1999 beating Martina Hingis in the finals. In 2002, she won 3 slams in a single calendar year and beating her own sister in each of the finals. A year later she won Australian Open and became the 6th female player in open era to complete a career grand slam. She to date has won 23 Grand Slams which is an open era record for the most number of slams by a tennis player in Open Era. She is the only athlete to have two slams 7 times each (Australian Open and Wimbledon). She also holds the record for winning 3 slams at least 6 each (Australian Open, Wimbledon and US Open). In addition to singles, she has also won 14 doubles titles along with her sister. Besides that, she has also won 4 Olympic gold medals as well, one in Women’s singles and three in Women’s doubles. She along with her sister has ushered the new era in women’s tennis history.
 
She though didn’t have an easy career; she has suffered a series of injuries and has also been a lot of controversies as well. She has battled numerous injuries in her 22-year career thus far. She was not done yet as she made a comeback post her pregnancy. She though has failed to win any title after that.
 
Serina has taken her popularity beyond the court and has inked various multi-million dollars deals with prestigious brands. She has launched her own clothing line named "Aneres". She has also featured on some television shows and has also served as a voice artist on the famous show The Simpsons. She along with her sister bought a stake in NFL team Miami Dolphins and thus became the first Afro-American Women to have a stake in NFL team. To provide education to the weaker section of the society, she has established Serena Williams Foundation and has built various schools in African nations under her foundation.
