Shailesh Lodha was born to Shyam Singh Lodha and Shobha Lodha. He married Swati Lodha, a management author. Together they have a daughter named Swaara Lodha.

Lodha travelled a lot because his father was transferred often during his childhood. His mother had a great vocabulary in Hindi.At the age of 9, Lodha who was nicknamed Baal Kavi. He earned Bachelor's and master's degrees in marketing before becoming a writer.

Lodha first appeared on TV as a contestant in Comedy Circus and later went on to appear in Comedy Ka Mahamukabla. Since 2008, he has appeared in the sitcom Taarak Mehta Ka Ooltah Chashmah as the real-life columnist, Taarak Mehta.He is also the narrator of the show, sharing his thoughts about what happened in each episode.

Shailesh Lodha has published four books: the first two are works of satirical humour, while his third book is a self-help guide co-authored with his wife. His most recent book is Diljale Ka Facebook Status, a collection of poems written from the point of view of an abandoned lover.
