Shekhar Suman is an Indian film actor, producer, anchor, writer, director, and singer.He attended St.Xaviers school in Patna and then Vikas Vidyalaya in Ranchi for schooling.He went to Ramjas College in Delhi where he completed his graduation in history. He made his debut in acting on Television with a popular show ‘Wah! Janaab’ along with Kiran Juneja.The story was based on Urdu culture in Lucknow. He got the fame with TV shows like Dekh Bhai Dekh, Chote Babu, Andaz, Kabhi Idhar Kabhi Udhar, Reporter, Vilayati Babu etc.He was also part of shows such as Movers n Shakers, Carry On Shekhar and Simply Shekhar. He had previously hosted the Star One show ‘The Great Indian Comedy Show ‘ till 2006.He even appeared in few episodes of Sahara TV ‘Dial One Aur Jeeto ‘. He also worked on different quiz shows including Zee TV’s ‘Nilaam Ghar’ and Star One’s ‘He-Man’.
 
He was the host for STAR News’ show ‘Poll Khol ‘ for 5 years which was related to Indian politics. Similar show on Aaj Tak titled ‘Abki Bari Shekhar Bihari ‘ featured him. He shared a judge position with Navjot Singh Sidhu on ‘The Great Indian Laughter Challenge ‘ which was the 1st stand-up comedy contest on Indian TV.He had differences with Navjot Singh Sidhu and quit the show for it.He later joined the competitor of the same show ‘Comedy Circus’. He was seen as a judge on another similar show ‘Comedy Superstar‘ aired on  SAB TV. SAB TV’s ‘Jab Khelo SAB Khelo‘ featured him as a host. He was seen in dance reality show on Sony TV titled ‘Jhalak Dikhlaja’.
 
He made his debut in singing with a music album ‘Kuch Khwaab Aise’ which was a collection of 8 love ballads. Aadesh Shrivastava composed music for the album and Shyam Raj was the lyric writer. He was seen in reality TV show ‘Raaz Pichhle Janam Ka’ in 2009.This show was based on life regression of the past.He was a judge on ‘Lux Perfect Bride’. He had also tried in politics. He lost Loksabha Election against BJP contender Shatrughan Sinha in 2009.
 
He was featured in movies like Bhoomi, Chaloo Movie, Ek Se Badhkar Ek, Chor Machaaye Shor, Insaaf Apne Lahoo Se, Professor Ki Padosan, Ranbhoomi, Tridev, Anubhav, Utsav etc.He has also worked as a director for a feature film titled ‘Heartless‘.The movie featured his son in a lead character. He had won Aashirwad award for best actor, 1st ITA Awards for best anchor and 3rd Indian Telly Awards for the best anchor for Ek Raja Ek Rani, Movers And Shakers and Carry on Shekhar respectively.

He was born to Phani Bhushan Prasad and Usha Prasad and has three sisters. His father was a well-known surgeon and Bihar Government’s former Director-in-Chief of the Health Services. He is married to Alka Suman since in 1983 and the couple was blessed with two sons named Aayush and Adhyayan Suman. His son Aayush died by a heart ailment very young age of 11. His younger son Adhyayan Suman is a Bollywood actor.
