Shruti Seth is a popular Indian television VJ and actress. She went to Ashok Academy and later St. Xavier's College in Mumbai for her graduation. She has completed her degree in Commerce and Economics. She began her career at Taj Mahal Hotel in Mumbai. She served as a guest relation executive there. Turning into modeling was just by chance for her. She was asked by many people if she would like to work on modeling assignments and she started it with a thought of earning some extra pennies for pocket money. She worked in many TV commercials including for Frooti, Clean and Clear moisturizer, Ponds Talc, TATA Home Finance, Lifebuoy Soap, LG, ICICI Prudential Life Insurance, Airtel, Stayfree Secure, Mrs. Marino Hair Softener, Dominos etc.
She started her career on TV with Channel V. She was the host the shows ‘Junglee Jukebox’ and ‘First-day First show ‘for Channel V. This stint of her gave her identity in the TV industry. She then worked in many TV shows including Des Mein Niklla Hoga Chand, Kyun Hota Hai Pyarrr etc. She was able to make a special place in young hearts with her role in comedy series ‘Shararat ‘ aired on Star Plus. She shared the screen with Eva Grover and Farida Jalal on the show. She played a character named ‘Jiya’. The show was super hit.She later worked in Sony Entertainment Television’s show ‘Rishta.com’. The show was one of the Yash Raj serials. Though the serial didn’t get good TRPs, she was happy to be part of it. She was the host for many seasons of a popular comedy show ‘Comedy Circus ‘aired on Sony Channel. Other TV projects, she had worked are Maan, Mum Tum Aur Hum, Dhak Dhakk in Dubai, My Desi Top 20, Kaante Ki Takkar, The Suite Life of Karan & Kabir, Baal Veer, The Great Indian Family Drama, Comedy Nights Bachao and TV, Biwi Aur Main.
She even worked in many movies. She made a debut with a movie ‘Waisa Bhi Hota Hai Part II’ in 2003.Her work as a character ‘Fatima’ or ‘Fatty’ in Kajol and Aamir Khan starter movie ‘Fanaa’ in 2006 was much appreciated. She was cast in Yash Raj Films' movies ‘Tara Rum Pum’ and Prakash Jha's movie ‘Raajneeti ‘. Slumdog Millionaire, Anubhav, Aagey Se Right and My Friend Pinto are few of her movies.
She was a part of controversy for her comment on Indian Prime Minister Modi's #selfiewithdaughter campaign on Twitter. The campaign was announced by Prime Minister Modi while addressing in show ‘Mann Ki Baat’ on the radio. She was badly abused and trolled through social media and Twitter for her comment. Many of the Bollywood and media members tried to defend her in the situation.
