The famous Odia film actor, director, and politician, Siddhanta Mahapatra, was born to Dr. Manmohan Mohapatra and Dr. Kanaklata Mohapatra. He is also known by another name, Gyana Ranjan Mohapatra. He went to St. Vincent Convent School, Berhampur for completing his school and for his graduation he went to D.D. College, Keonjhar. For his master’s degree, he went to the Institute of Marketing and Management, Delhi.
Siddhanta entered the Oriya film industry in the year 1993 at the age of 27. He made his debut with movie “Sradhanjali”. He was the complete package for dancing, acting and action skills. His notable movies are Laxman Rakha, Dauli express, Tu Eka Aama Saha Bharasha, Tulasi, Sahara Jaluchi, Ganga Jamuna, Kali Shankar, Rakhi Bandhili mo rakhiba mana, Rakata Kahiba Kiye Kahara and much more.
He gave the Oriya films a new dimension along with Rachana Banerjee. She was also an Odia and Bengali actress. The pair is admired by the audiences and attracted them to the cinema hall to especially watch them on big screens. His first movie “Sradhanjali” was opposite to the actress Lekha Nanda. He made his appearances in more than 150 movies in Oriya film industry or Ollywood.
He was also a famous politician in Orissa and has been elected to Lok Sabha in the year 2009 as a member of Parliament of India. In 2009 he joined the party, Biju Janata Dal and contested the Lok Sabha election as MP from Berhampur. He made his victory in the elections and retained the seat.
