While growing up, she was hugely influenced by her grandmother who had worked as Michael Jackson’s hairstylist for several years, who also encouraged her to take opera classes. She started uploading videos of her original compositions on ‘Myspace’ account. She signed into ‘Parlophone’ records and planned for the release of her first studio album. Ferreira made her first film appearance in ‘Putty Hill’. She initially released a couple of singles titled, ‘One’ and ‘17’ in 2010. ‘One’ peaked at 64th position in the UK Singles Charts. This was followed by the single ‘Obsession’, which ranked at 37th position on the Billboard’s US Dance Club Songs chart. She released an EP titled ‘As If!’instead of her scheduled debut album. In 2012, she released her second extended play titled, ‘Ghost’ under Capitol Records. It was ranked at the 8th position on the Billboard’s US Top Heatseekers chart. Her first studio album titled, ‘Night Time, My Time’ was released in October 2013. It received a score of 79 on Metacritic's and was well-received among other critics also. It was named as 2013’s fifth best debut album by the Rolling Stone. She is considered as a synthpop singer and her genres include indie-pop, dance-pop, alternative rock and art pop. Her other notable film appearances are in ‘Elvis & Nixon’, ‘The Green Inferno’ and ‘The Trust’.

 

Sky Ferreira featured on the covers of magazines like ‘Interview’ and ‘Dazed’. Ferreira was also the face of an advertisement campaign for Calvin Klein and Adidas Originals. She also featured on the cover of international fashion and lifestyle magazine ‘Vs.’ She has hazel colored eyes and dark brown colored hair.
