Smita Patil is the daughter of ex-minister of Maharashtra Shivajirao Patil. She was more passionate about theatre during her school days. She even participated in every school program, she considered it essential. She considered her supreme duty to raise a voice against injustice. That is why she used to take part in the movement in the metropolis. She preferred to work in Women's Pride Films. She always stated that love, dance, and weeping are not fated for the woman. Because of their thoughtfulness, they acknowledged marriage and love are two different things.
In her point of view, marriage was important just because of social responsibilities and for children too. This is the purpose why she was ready to work Raj Babbar with him even without getting married. 'Bhegi Palke' was her first film with Raj Babber. On the set of this film, Smita was fascinated by the calm and acting skills of Raj and the two went to subjugation in a couple's love bonds. This closeness led the union of the films such as 'Tajurba, Shapath, Hum Do Hamre Do and Aaj Ki Awawaj. The ace Director C. V. Sridhar who made her pair opposite Rajesh Khanna in 1982 for the film Dil-E-Nadan. After the success of this film, Rajesh Khanna and Smita were paired in hit films such as Anokha Rishta, Nazrana, Angaarey, Amrit and Aakhir Kyon?. " Ek Andhera Lakh Sitare and Dushman Na Kare Dost Ne Woh" from Aakhir Kyun became the most popular songs of that time. M. Shyam Benegal viewed her first time on TV, and she only saw the characteristics of a flourishing celebrity in them.
Bainagal always had compliments about her that she had an expression of speech, a sense of heart and a voice such that she used to attract everyone. Shyam Benegal remembered that 'She had enough energy for his role when she came in front of the camera, but always looked without make-up. She is the fullest of professionalism in their true sense. She committed a relationship with Raj, against the desires of her family. And on 13 December 1986, she died due to childbirth complexities, at the age of 31, just in 15 days after giving a birth to her son, Prateik Babbar.
