The South Indian actress, Tara mainly serves the Kannada movie industry and is the active politician of the party – Bhartiya Janta Party. In the year 2012, she was elected to the post of chief president of the organization named as Karnataka Chalanachitra Academy – KCA. As a matter of fact, she was the first actress to hold this designation. Throughout her career, it is been estimated that she has performed in over 500 parallel cinemas as well as commercials. Apart from the Kannada movies, she has also performed in many other languages such as Malayalam, Tamil, and Telugu. In the year 1985, she got a chance to play the role in debut movie named as Thulasidala through which she entered the Kannada film industry.    
 
Some of her popular Tamil movies include January 1, Ingeyum Oru Gangai, Nayagan, Thulasi, Agni Natchathiram, and much more. She has bagged the plenty of Karnataka State Film awards in the category of Best Actress and Best Supporting Actress. The prominent movies for which she received these awards are Krama in the year 1991, Munjaneya Manju in the year 1993, Kanooru Heggadithi in the year 1999, and Cyanide in the year 2006. Additionally, she has also appeared in the guest role for the movie Halli Meshtru in 1992. For her performance in the movie Hasina, she has earned National Film Award.
