Thawar Chand Gehlot was born on 18-05-1948 in Ujjain in the state of Madhya Pradesh, India. He is an Indian Politician.

Seeds of a great politician were sown right when he was a student. His political journey has never been a smooth one. But with his strong will power and straight forward approach, he skillfully crafted his career and occupied various dignitary positions in the party. After entering into politics, he was thrice elected as a member of the Legislative assembly and also served as Member Parliament from 1996 and 2009. 
 
In 1990-92 he was a part of the committee on estimates and labour advisory committee. During his tenure from 1996-97, he was a member of Panchayat and rural development, antyodhaya programme and implementation of the 20-point program by the government of Madhya Pradesh. He has been actively working for the upliftment of Dalits and the poor. He was a member of 11th Lok Sabha, committee on agriculture, the consultative committee for the ministry of labour from 1998-2001. Being a member of the welfare of scheduled caste and scheduled tribes, he worked very dedicatedly for the social, economic and financial empowerment of the backwards classes. His determination and commitment can be very well seen today also. He was also a member of 12th and 13th Lok Sabha.

His family comprises of wife Anita Gehlot and four children (1 daughter, 3 sons). He believes in simple living and high thinking. His literary interests are well depicted in the articles written by him in Vidhayani- a journal of MP legistative assembly.
