Tim Berners-Lee is an extraordinary computer scientist. Also referred as TimBL, he belongs to England. He is the creator of the marvelous WWW (World Wide Web). Raised an Anglican, he turned away from religion in his youth. After having children, he became a Unitarian Universalist. Born in London, England, he attended Sheen Mount Primary School. He attended the Emanuel School in London from 1969 to 1973 before going to Queen’s College, Oxford to receive Bachelor of Arts degree in physics which he passed with first class.
 
Bernes-Lee worked as an Engineer at Plessey in Poole, Dorset. Then he started as an independent contractor at CERN in June 1980 before he went to work at incumbent John Poole’s Image Computer Systems in Bournemouth. He gained experience in computer networking here before returning to CERN in 1984. Knighted by Queen Elizabeth II, he is the WWW (World Wide Web) Consortium director and the founder of the World Wide Web Consortium. He is a senior researcher and holder of the founder's Chair at the MIT Computer Science and Artificial Intelligence Laboratory.
 
Berners-Lee has bagged a number of honours and awards. Appointed as the Order of Merit by the Queen in 2007, he was the elected Fellow of the Royal Society in 2001. Manchester,  Yale and Harvard Universities have conferred honorary degrees on him. In 2017 he was bestowed with the Turing Award for inventing the WWW (World Wide Web).
