Urmila Matondkar Complete Bio & Career
Involved in films as a child actor, she made her acting debut with the film Karm in the year 1977 with the film titled Karm. After that, she was seen in a few more films as a child artist. She made her full-fledged debut as an actress with the Malayalam film Chanakya in the year 1989. She was cast alongside superstar Kamal Hasan in this film. A couple of years later, she made her Bollywood film debut with the film titled Narasimha. She was cast alongside Sunny Deol and Dimple Kapadia in this film.
Her career didn't start on a high note but picked up the pace after the release of Rangeela. She was cast opposite Aamir Khan in this film and this film was arguably the turning point of her career. Her association with RGV (Ram Gopal Verma) was instrumental in her career as she starred in many oh his films such as Satya, Mast, and Pyar Tune Kya Kiya among others. Her performance in films such as Khoobsurat and Judaai needs a special mention. She won seven Filmfare nominations throughout her acting career. Though most of her films failed to make an impact at the box-office but her performance was always praised. Her acting career started declining after her last hit EK Hasina Thi in 2004. She then turned to television and judged various dance shows.
She created a lot of headlines after she decided to begin her new innings in politics by joining INC just before the 2019 general elections. She is a popular figure and might contest from Mumbai in the upcoming 2019 general elections.
