Vega Tamotia was born in Chattisgrah but was raised in Sydney. She obtained her graduate degree from University of New South Wales and also enrolled at IIM, Bangalore as a part of an exchange programme. She had an interest in acting from a very young age and hence she enrolled at a theatre company while in college. Post her education, she relocated to Mumbai and joined a theatre company. She impressed T. Siva who decided to cast her in his film Saroja and thus she made her acting debut through Tamil film Saroja in the year 2008. The following year, she was seen in much acclaimed Tamil film Pasanga for which she was also nominated at Vijay Awards. In 2009, she also made her Bollywood film debut through the film titled Aamras. The film boomed at the box-office and had to wait for another 3 years to make a comeback in Bollywood through the film titled Chittagong.
