Vladimir Putin is a name who has been in limelight for years in the world of politics from 1999, switching between the “President” and “Prime Minister “ of Russia. He is a current president of Russia. But this limelight is not gifted one and has many ups and downs in the background. His journey to it started from 1960 when he started schooling. He then studied Law at the Saint Petersburg State University and graduated in 1975.After that, he joined Communist Party of the Soviet Union and he met one of the people who influenced his career “Anatoly Sobchak”.
 
In 1975, Putin joined the KGB and he worked as both second and then as a First Chief Directorate there.He was undercover in East Germany for about five years as a translator. After that, he served as an advisor on International Affairs at Saint Petersburg State University.He was moved and was appointed to different positions till 1999, “Director of the Federal Security Service (FSB)” is one of the most influential ones to mention.
 
The actual entry in politics and power started on August 9, 1999, when he was appointed as First Deputy and then as an acting Prime Minister of Russia. In the end of 1999 when Yeltsin resigned unexpectedly from president post, Putin was appointed as an acting President of Russia. He served as a President for two consecutive terms till 2008. It was 2008 when he was barred from the presidential term by the constitution.But he was able to be in power as he was appointed as “Prime Minister “for that term. He again won the presidential election in 2012 and continued his third term as a “President” and he is currently serving Russia’s president.
 
Vladimir Putin drew a lot of criticism for its humongous celebration of his 65th birthday and a lot of protest rallies were called by the Russian opposition leader to spoil his celebration asking Putin to retire and not to continue his presidency in next term. Around 1,750 people were detained on 12 June 2017 during anti-Putin protests in Russia. He is also known for his lavish lifestyle and is arguably one of the most powerful men in the world.
