Ram Mukherjee, an Indian film director, writer, producer of Hindi and Bengali film Cinema belongs to very famous Mukherjee-Samarth family. They both are connected due to Tanuja’s marriage to Shomu Mukherjee. Mukherjee family has almost all members in the entertainment industry or are connected somehow to the industry.
He directed movies like Hum Hindustani, Ek Bar MuskuraDo, leader, RaktandirDhara, Raktalekha and many others and produced movie Sambandh 1969. Later he introduced his daughter in movies through Tollywood: Bengali filmBiyerPhool. He has also produced his daughter’s movie Raja kiAyegi Baraat which was a failed project.
He is among one of the founders of the family’s hereditary studio, the Filmalaya Studios. His father Ravindramohan Mukherjee was the elder brother of producer Sashadhar Mukherjee and one of the founders of Filmalaya Studio as well. Sashadhar Mukherjee saw talent in his Nephew and brought Ram Mukherjee to Bombay now Mumbai, trusted him and let him direct movies like Leader and Hum Hindustani under the Filmistan and Filmalaya banners. As a director, the best film of his career was Vaijayantimala and Dilip Kumar starrer film leader.
