Reena belongs to a Brahmin family from Deoria, Uttar Pradesh. She is a well-educated woman. She was married to Sanjay Dwivedi, an officer in the PWD department of the Uttar Pradesh government. Her husband died due to a prolonged ailment in 2013. After the death of her husband, she was offered the post of Junior assistant in the PWD department in place of her husband. She accepted the offer and started working in the department.
