She was frenzied for movies ever since she entered her teens. To fulfill her dreams she requested her parents to let her go to Mumbai to chase her dreams. Though they initially denied but later on gave their nod and thus she shifted to Mumbai. She did a course in film production at the prestigious Xavier Institute of Communications in 1994. She started her professional career by assisting noted editors Shyam Ramanna and Bardroy Baretto to gain enough experience.

 

Aarti Bajaj began her career as a film Editor in Anurag Kashyap’s Paanch, but the movie was denied release due to censorship issues. Her association with Imtiaz Ali was a successful one as she worked with Imtiaz on all hit films such as Jab We Met, Rockstar, Love Aaj Kal, and Highway. She did several films with Anurag Kashyap like Dev D, Gulaal, No Smoking, and Black Friday.

 

She married Anurag Kashyap in 2003 with whom she has a daughter. The couple divorced after six years of their marriage in 2009. Though she still enjoys working with him even after their divorce as she feels that her working equation with him is good on the sets.
