Born and brought up in Sudbury, Ontario, Alex Trebek obtained his graduation degree from the University of Ottawa in Philosophy. Since he wanted to become a newscaster, he decided to join the CBC (Canadian Broadcasting Company) which was Canada's premier network in those days. During his time with CBC, he covered various special events and nationwide news. He garnered a lot of appreciation as a broadcaster and retained his composure and poise in the toughest of places. A few years later in the year 1966, he became a game show host called Reach for the Top in the year 1965. He hosted the show for 7 years after which, he relocated to the US and started hosting the American game show titled The Wizard of Odds for NBC.
Preceding being chosen as the host of Jeopardy!, for syndication, he returned to NBC and facilitated the patched up variant of Classic Concentration, which was additionally his second hit in his right around multi-year profession. On this show, he got 4 Emmy designations, yet didn't win. It was dropped in 1991 when the system quit making amusement appear for daytime TV.
