Her family relocated to Mumbai in 2010. The acting was just a passion for Ankita and never intended to become an Actress professionally. She has pursued a course in music and Classical Dance. Her father always wanted her to be a choreographer and he even opened a dance institute of her own.  She made her screen debut as an extra dancer in the song Chaand Sifarish from the Aamir Khan starer film “Fanaah” in 2006.
 
Ankita Sharma made her acting debut in 2009 with the television series Agle Janam Mohe Bitiya Hi Kijo, where she portrayed the role of Ratna opposite Abhishek Rawat. After this serial, she got her first lead role with the series Baat Hamari Pakki Hain. Her performance as Saachi Jaiswal was heavily praised and her chemistry with her co-star Barun Sobti was regarded as one of the best of the small screen. In 2012 she played the lead character, Nimrit Malik, in Life OK’s show Amrit Manthan. This show became very popular and so was Ankita. Through this serial, she became a household name throughout the nation.
