Ashwiny Iyer Tiwari was born and brought up in Mumbai. She was academically a very bright student and holds a gold medal from from Sophia Polytechnic, Mumbai in commercial arts. Post her studies, she worked for 15 years at advertising agency Leo Burnett (India). She finally quit her job to pursue her dram of filmmaking. After assistng her husband Nitesh Tiwari in his first few films, she finally made her debut as a director with the Bollywood film Nil Battey Sannata in the year 2016. She then made the Tamil version of her debut film titled Amma Kanakku. The following year she directed the hit film Bareilly Ki Barfi. She is currenty busy with the filming of her upcoming project Panga which is scheduled to release in 2020.
