Balwinder Sandhu Complete Bio & Career

Balwinder Sandhu was a part of the world cup winning team in 1983. His incoming ball to the legendary windies opener Gordon Greenidge was arguably the highlight of his short-lived career. He made his first-class debut in the year 1980 representing Mumbai. 
 
A couple of years later, he was included in the Indian team that traveled Pakistan and made his international debut during the series against Pakistan. He was then included in the side that toured West Indies just before the showpiece event in 1983. He was finally included in the world cup squad and after having an overall average world cup, he bowled his heart out in the finals and got rid of dangerous Gordon Greenidge. 
 
Besides bowling, he was a capable bat as well and has 2 test fifties to his name. However, his career was short lived as he couldn’t live up to the expectations and was subsequently dropped. He just played 22 ODIs and 8 Test Matches for India picking up 16 and 10 wickets respectively. Post-retirement, he took up coaching job and has served as a coach of the domestic sides Punjab and Mumbai.
