Short Biography

Bipin Rawat was born on 16-03-1958 in Pauri Garhwal in the state of Uttarakhand, India. He was the first Chief of Defence Staff (CDS) of India. He had become the 1st Chief of Defence Staff of India on 30-12-2019. He joined the office as CDS on 01-01-2020 but dieEd in a helicopter crash on 08-12-2021, which shocked the whole Indians.

Bipin Rawat Complete Bio & Career

Bipin Rawat was belongs to a Hindu family in which his family served for our Nation from many generations. Bipin attended different schools to fulfill his education like St. Edward's School in Shimla and Cambrian Hall School, Dehradun for secondary education. After that, he moved to Indian Military Academy in Dehradun and National Defence Academy in Khadakwasla. Here, during his army training, he achieved the "Sword of Honour". Additionally, Mr. Rawat got bachelor degree from Defence Services Staff College at Wellington in Tamil Nadu. Then, he migrated to United States Army Command and General Staff College at Fort Leavenworth, Kansas to complete Higher Command Course. Besides this, he attained diploma in management and computer education from University of Madras, and MPhil degree in Defence studies.

On16 December1978, he was handedover his first mission at the 5th battalion of 11 Gorkha Rifles that his father already done in earlier times. He gave ten years of his life to counter-insurgency operations where he lead the team in many dangerous missions. After that, Rawat achieved the rank of Major in Indian Army and posted to Uri, Jammu. After his outstanding performance in 5th battalion 11 Gorkha Rifles at Eastern sector, he received the rank of brigadier.

Moreover, Bipin did a lot of excellent work for India thus, he turned into the post of major general. He served himself as the General Officer Commanding 19th Infantry Division at Uri, Jammu.

On 08-12-2021 (Wednesday), General Bipin Rawat was aboard a helicopter (IAF Mi-17V5) with fourteen members (4 crew members & 10 senior army officers) and his wife when his helicopter crashed in Coonoor in the state of Tamil Nadu. Bipin Rawat, his wife & all others who were aboard IAF Mi-17V5 died in this accident. The Indian Army recovered all the dead bodies. This day in Indian history always will be remembered of sad demises.
