Dawid Johannes Malan was born in Roehampton, London. He plays for England and Middlesex. He is a left-handed batsman. His father is a former cricketer. His mother is Janet Manet. His brother is also a former player who played for Loughborough. His sister Line Malan is a hockey player. He moved to South Africa at the age of seven and did his schooling at Paarl Boys High School.
In 2006, he represented the MCC Young Cricketers and Boland in South Africa. He then joined Middlesex and made his 1st XI debut in a Twenty20 Cup. In 2007, he became the top scorer in the Second XI Championship with 969 runs. He made his first-class debut for Middlesex, in 2008 by scoring 132 runs. In 2017, he was named in England's Twenty20 International for the series against South Africa. Then he in his T20I debut for England against South Africa he made 78 runs and become 'man of the match.
In 2015, he also played for Peshawar Zalmi in the first season of the Pakistan Super League. In the Ashes series of 2017-18, he was the best batsman in England. In 2019, he made hiS ODI debut with Ben Foakes and Jora Archer.
