Ellen Ochoa was born on 10-05-1958 in Los Angeles in the state of California, United States. She is an American Astronaut, Engineer & Director of the Johnson Space Center.

Ellen Ochoa Complete Bio & Career

The famous American Engineer and astronaut, Ellen Ochoa, was born to Joseph and Rosanne Ochoa. She attended Grossmont High School for graduation and got her bachelor's of science degree in physics from San Diego State University. She went to Stanford University for completing her master’s degree in the field of science. She is also at the position of director of the Johnson Space Center.
 
She leads the group of 35 engineers which was included for the research and development work. She was a selection of NASA in the year 1990 and then she earned the title of world’s first Hispanic female astronaut. The mission specialist and flight engineer, Ochoa logged in space for more than 950 hours. Her technical works include robotics development, flight software development, computer hardware development, testing, and training. She also acted as assistant for Space Station.
 
Her achievements include NASA’s Exceptional Service Medal which was given to her in the year 1997. She also grabbed Outstanding Leadership Medal in the year 1995 and Space Flight medals in the years 1993, 1994,1999 and 2000. She also earned Space Act Tech Brief Awards in the year 1992.  These are all the awards given by NASA. Her other awards include Women in Aerospace Outstanding Achievement Award, Hispanic Heritage Leadership Award, National Hispanic Quincentennial Commission, a pride award and much more.
