Fat Joe Complete Bio & Career

Fat Joe’s actual name is Joseph Cartagena. Growing up, he was highly influenced by the Zulu Nation culture. His brother often brings home the music played at those events and discovered his interested in rap. As he grew up, along with rap, he developed an interest in break dance, graffiti art, and hip-hop culture as well. As a youngster, he also got involved in massive drug trade and in the world of drugs, he was known by the name Joey Crack. He though quickly returned back to his original love of music. 
 
He soon started his music career by establishing his own record label and also signed some of his fellow indie artists under his record label. He released his first album titled “Represent” in the year 1993 and a couple of years later released his next album titled "Jealous One's Envy". In his second album, he credited himself as Fat Joe and thus from there on, he became famous as Fat Joe. His second album opened with positive reviews and was immediately signed by Atlantic Records. 
 
After signing a deal with Atlantic Records, he released his third album "Don Cartagne". The album climbed up to the 2nd position on R&B/Hip-Hop Albums chart. Though success was never sweet to him as he was always under the radar for getting involved in controversies. He decided to release a sequel to his maiden claim-fame album Jealous One’s Envy titled "Jealous Ones Still Envy (J.O.S.E)" in 2001. He teamed with veteran artists like Busta Rhymes, Xzibit, Ludacris, Ashanti, Ja Rule and R. Kelly for this album. The album was an instant hit and it even surpassed his original album by reaching number 21 on Billboards chart albums. In 2010, he released Jealous Ones Still Envy 2 (J.O.S.E. 2) but this album failed to create the magic that he produced from this album’s prequel.
