Joginder Sharma is best remembered for the last over he bowled in the 2007 World T20 final against Pakistan, which helped India win the cup by 5 runs. Not many knew Joginder Sharma before the T20 World Cup that year. The victory not only helped India win the title, was also the beginning of a great captaincy career for MS Dhoni, who later on went to be tagged as 'one of the finest captains India has even produced.' 
 
Sharma then went on to represent Chennai Super Kings in the IPL, which was led by Dhoni. Though he was not a regular at the side, he played a few matches and remained with the franchise until 2011. Sharma made his first-class debut during the 2001-02 season and was quite useful as an all-rounder. A fruitful season couple of years later saw him earn a place in the India ODI squad for the Bangladesh tour in 2004. He played three ODIs there and played just one more game against West Indies in 2007 as he was ineffective. In November 2011, he met with a career-threatening car accident, where he suffered severe head injuries. However, Sharma recovered well and returned to the 2012-13 domestic season. The chances toplay for the national side was almost impossible and he decided to quit cricket and took up the job as DCP in Haryana Police. He worked tirelessly during the corono virus pandemic and was appreciated for his effort.
