Karan Razdan started his journey in Bollywood as an actor in the early 1980s. The films in which he acted are Kasam Paida Karne Wale Ki, Zara Si Zindagi, Jeevan Dhaara, Tum Laut Aao and Disco Dancer. After failing to establish himself as an actor, he turned to screenwriting and directing TV series and films.

As a director, he has directed some controversial films like Hawas, Girlfriend, Souten: The Other Woman and Rakhail – The Mistress. All his films created a lot of controversies and failed at the box-office. His film girlfriend was heavily criticized for its theme of Lesbianism. In addition to films, he has also directed a TV series called Yeh Hai Raaz in 1997.

As a screenplay writer, he wrote the screenplay of famous Doordarshan series called Rajani. He wrote the screenplay of films like Diljale, Deewane and Love Story 2050.
