Maharana Pratap was born on 09-05-1540 in Kumbhalgarh, Rajsamand in the state of Rajasthan, India. He was an Indian King of Mewar which is the region in the state of Rajasthan in north-western India.

Maharana Udai Singh II King governed the Kingdom of Mewar. Maharana Pratap was the eldest son among twenty-five sons of Maharana Udai Singh and Rani JeevantKanwar. MaharanaPratap got the throne of Mewar and became 54th king in the following of the SisodiyaRajputs. When Pratap was 27 years old and he was the prince of Mewar, MaharanaUdai Singh II was the ruling king at that time Chittor was surrounded by the Mughal Emperor Akbar.  MaharanaUdai Singh decided to leave the Chittor instead of revenging against Emperor Akbar. But young fresh blood Prince Pratap doesn’t want to leave the kingdom and move away. 
 
Pratap wants to take revenge on Emperor Akbar but the elders of kingdom convinced Pratap and Maharana Udai Singh II shifted his kingdom to Gogunda. MaharanaUdai Singh II formed a small kingdom and started ruling in Gogunda. As few years past and Maharana Udai Singh II was at his last breath and Pratap was said to be the next Maharana of Mewar. Meanwhile, Rani Bhatiyani made her influence and she was the favorite queen among others for the Maharana Udai, she made a wish of giving the throne to her son Jamal. 
 
After the death of Maharana Udai Singh, Crowned prince Pratap refused to take the throne and Jamal became the ruler of Mewar. But the Dynasty and people forced Jamal to leave the kingdom and wished Pratap to become Maharana. Now as Maharana, Pratap had the choice of taking revenge against Emperor Akbar and to take over his old kingdom. Akbar has the control of Chittor and not the kingdom of Mewar. Akbar understood that Maharana Pratap won’t submit his throne to him, so he decided to war against Pratap to get the throne. Maharana Pratap fought against Emperor Akbar but eventually lost the battle. However, he has immortalised his name and every year Maharana Pratap Jayanti is celebrated all across India.
