Murali Kartik was born on 11-09-1976 in Chennai in the state of Tamil Nadu, India. He is an Indian Cricket Player.

Murali Kartik Complete Bio & Career

Murali Kartik was a former left-arm orthodox spinner who has represented India in 37 ODIs, 8 Tests, and a sole T20I. He was always around but still, couldn’t find himself a permanent berth in the Indian national team. His high-arm bowling action comes right from the old coaching manual. He had all the weapons that a left arm spinner should have in his arsenal. Kartik first made it to the Indian side when South Africa toured India in 2000. He was drafted into the national squad after a couple of impressive first class seasons. The then captain of India, Sourav Ganguly didn’t show the required confidence in him and he was perhaps under bowled or rather used him as a defensive option. He though showed signs of improvement and on flat Indian wickets, it was he who kept the West Indian batsmen in check.
 
His best cricketing moment came in the infamous Mumbai test in 2004 where India defended 100 odd runs and won the series. He took seven wickets in that match and scripted India’s victory. He thought could play only just one more test match after that before being missed out on selection forever.
 
After continuous ignorance from the Indian selectors, Murali signed with the English county Middlesex and a great season with them earned him a place in the Indian team when Australia toured India in 2007. The very year when Pakistan toured India, he played his last international match for India. He though continued to shine in the county cricket and played a crucial role in his side, Middlesex winning the Stanford 20/20 title. He continued playing county cricket till 2014 seasons.
 
Post retirement though, he has turned commentator and has been widely appreciated for his opinions in the pre-match show of IPL called Extra Innings.
