Nirendranath Chakravarty was born on 19-10-1924 in Kolkata in the state of West Bengal, India. He was an Indian Poet, Writer, Author, Novelist & Editor.

Nirendranath was born in Faridpur district of undivided Bengal. After graduating from the University of Calcutta, he started journalism in the daily "Raiyah". He also joined the Ananda Bazar newspaper and "Anandamela" he also edited the magazine. In the 50s, his name came out with poets like Sunil Gangopadhyay, Ram Basu, Samar Sen, Kiran Shankar Sengupta, and Manindra Roy. His first book, "Nil Nirjan", was published in 1954 by Narendra Chakraborty, from the Signet Press Satyajit Ray himself was the cover of the cover. Among his other works are Somoy baro kom, Nil Nirjan, Andhokar Baranda, Prothom Nayok, and Ghumie porar aage etc.
There are children's poems compilation " Bibir Chora”, Saada Bagh” and" Baaro Maser Chora" etc. His edited works include "Poetry of five hundred years of poetry" (1988, with poet Saral De ), the best poem in the recitation (2008, with poet Kalidas Bhadra) etc. About poet, Shishirkumar Das writes in his Bengali Sahitya Sahitya - "His poetic finesse, his skill in the formation of fame, his popularity in the use of words is the key to his poetry popularity. The dramatic prospects of the small life of contemporary life and the realization of the deeper life-consciousness is the world of his poetry ".He was awarded many awards in his life for his contribution to Indian poetry. In 1974, he received the Academy Award for the title " Ulanga Raja ”. He also wrote few Bhaduri Moshai detective novels. In 2007, he was awarded an honorary Doctor of Science by the University of Calcutta.
