Mahant Nritya Gopal Das was born on 11 June 1938 in Mathura. He completed his studies from Sanskrit University situated in Varanasi. He looks after the temple based in Ayodhya named, Mani Ram Das Ki Chavani. It is known as the largest temple in Ayodhya. Besides this, he is also the chief of the temples named, Ram Janmabhoomi Nyas and Shri Ram Janmabhoomi Teerth Kshetra. These bodies were formed to look after the construction of the Ram Mandir in Ayodhya. Shri Krishna Janmasthan Seva Sansthan has also appointed him as its head.
 
He was also involved in the case of Babri Masjid Demolition which took place in 1992. Mahant Ram Manohar Das is his Guru. The construction of temples like Ramayan Bhavan and Shri Char Dham Temple is overlooked by him. Around 500 sadhus stay in Maniram Chhawni which is run by him.
 
He has been tested positive for COVID-19 on 13 August 2020 owing to a ceremony he attended with Prime minister, Narendra Modi.
