Poonam Dhillon Complete Bio & Career

Poonam Dhillon completed her studies from the famous Carmel Convent High School, Chandigarh. She catapulted to limelight after she won the Miss India crown in the year 1977. This paved her way directly into the world of modelling and her pretty face seen on several magazine covers then. After enjoying a highly successful modelling career she got a role in the super hit film Trishul in 1978 and thus she made a very successful debut as an actress. This film’s song 'Gapuchi Gapuchi gam gam' which was picturised on her is famous even today.
 
Her next project 'Noorie' which released a year later after her debut in 1979 literally made her an overnight star Her on-screen pairing with the superstar Rajesh Khanna was heavily praised and this successful pair delivered four more super hit films like 'Nishan', 'Dard', 'Awam', and 'Zamana'. Their film Redrose even though it was a box-office failure but was critically acclaimed.
 
In an illustrious career that she had as actress, she delivered several super hit films such as 'Biwi O Biwi', 'Kaala Patthar', 'Teri Meharbaniya', 'Yeh To Kamaal Ho Gaya', 'Batwara', 'Karma', 'Sohni Mahiwal’ and 'Kasam' among others. In addition to Hindi films, she has also acted in Tamil, Bengali, and Kannada language films. Her career as a leading actress spanned from 1978 with the film 'Trishul' till 'Virodhi' in 1992.
 
Besides acting, she has also hosted a show titled 'Chusth Dhrusth'. She has also acted in a television series titled 'Kitty Party'. She won a lot of appreciation and award for her performance in the Hindi play called 'The Perfect Husband' in the year 2005. She also had her stint in politics when in 2004, she got associated with the Indian National Congress in 2004. She has also participated as a contestant in Big Boss 3 in 2009.

The couple was blessed with two children, a son named Anmol Thakeria and a daughter named Paloma Thakeria.
