Poonam belongs to a Hindu family and was raised in Agra, Uttar Pradesh, India. She took her education from a local school in Agra. The player has keen interest in sports activities since her school days. Thus, Yadav took part in volleyball, cricket, and many other games. After finishing secondary studies, she enrolled herself in Eklavya Sports Stadium where Poonam took training in cricket. In April 2013, the famous celebrity got selected in the T20I team. Here, she first time performed her game on an international level opposite Bangladesh. As she is known for her bowling strategy. Poonam performed well and this is the time when the player got selected for the ODI series.
Moreover, due to her handy spinner technique, she was able to become a member of the 2017 World Cup at West Indies. It was also the turning point of her life because she become popular on a global level. Ms. Poonam performed well in this world cup but unfortunately, her team lost the match by the margin of 9 runs to England. After that in 2018, she got selected for the "2018 ICC Women's World Twenty20" series in the West Indies where she represented the Indian squad. During the series, her performance was excellent and her name was highlighted as India's highest first wicket-taker in the T20 series. In 2020, the player was also announced as an Indian squad against Australia during the "2020 ICC Women's T20 World Cup.
In 2021, Ms. Poonam was chosen as a Test squad opposite England Women's Cricket World Cup. Now, she will be seen in the Indian team in the "2022 Women's Cricket World Cup" in New Zealand.
