Rohan Bopanna was born on 04-03-1980 in Bengaluru in the state of Karnataka, India. He is an Indian Tennis Player & Philanthropist.

Rohan Bopanna Complete Bio & Career

Rohan Bopanna started playing tennis at the age of 11 but that was only because of his father. He strictly told him to take up a sport and by the time he turned 19, he made tennis as his number one priority. Presently, he ranks among the leading tennis players from India. He was trained by C.G. Krishna Bhupathi at Mahesh Bhupathi Tennis Academy in Bangalore. He turned pro in 2003 and tried his best to qualify for the main draws at the singles event but realized that is game suits the doubles style of play.
 
He started partnering Mahesh Bhupathi in men’s doubles and Sania Mirza in mixed doubles at Davis Cup and on international matches, he had several players. In doubles, he partnered Pakistani player Aisam-ul-Haq Qureshi and together they won several titles. The pair was famous by the name Indo-Pak Express. The pair reached the finals of US Open in 2010 but lost out to top-seeded pair of Brian Brothers. The pair won ATP’s Humanitarian of the Year award in 2010 and he was also named as a “Champion for Peace” by ‘Peace and Sport’ organization.
 
He reached the career-best ranking of 3 in July 2013 and is currently the number 10 seeded doubles player. He along with Sania Mirza almost won India a bronze medal at the 2016 Summer Olympics in Rio. He is still going strong and is aiming for the 2020 Olympics. 
 
On his 36th Birthday, Rohan established Rohan Bopanna Tennis Academy in Bangalore.
 
He has involved himself in a lot of charity works. He donates a large chunk of his income to charitable organization GoSports Foundation. He also finances a special school for the physically challenged people in the hometown of Coorg.
 
From Coorg to Parris, Bopanna created history at the 2017 French Open by becoming the fourth Indian after Paes, Bhupathi, and Mirza to win a grand slam after he won the French Open mixed doubles title with her Canadian partner Gabriela Dabrowski.
