Ruturaj Gaikwad was born on 31-01-1997 in Pune in the state of Maharashtra, India. He is an Indian Cricket Player who plays as a right-handed batsman for Indian national cricket team, Maharashtra cricket team, Puneri Bappa, and Chennai Super Kings (CSK).

Ruturaj Gaikwad hails from the city of Pune. He started playing cricket from a very early age. He joined Dilip Vengsarkar Cricket academy while he was in his teens to pursue his dream of becoming a cricketer. He came to the limelight after he had a 522 run partnership stand with Vinay in the Maharashtra Invitation tournament in 2015. He scored 306 runs in that match and was included in the Maharashtra U-19 team post that inning. After missing out on the selection of India’s U-19 team, he made sure that he will prove his mettle in first-class cricket. At the age of 19, he made his first-class debut for Maharashtra in the 2016-17 seasons. He was also selected for the Interstate T20 tournament the same year. He made some useful contributions and came on the radar.
He was selected in the India B team in the 2018-19 Deodhar Trophy and showed a glimpse of what he is capable of. He is a hard-hitting opener and was finally selected in India A team. He gave a good start more often than not and in the recently concluded tour of West Indies, he played some handy knocks representing India A. He was roped in by IPL franchise Chennai Superkings during the 2019 IPL player auction at his base price of INR 20 Lakhs. He though couldn’t play a single match as the team was already loaded with star-studded openers. In addition to batting, he is also a part-time off-spinner as well.
In 2021, he made his T20I debut on 28-07-2021 against Sri Lanka. In 2022, he has named in India's ODI squad against the West Indies. He made his ODI debut on 06-10-2022 against South Africa.
He was named the vice-captain for the first three matches of the T20I series against Australia in Nov 2023. He was named as the captain of the India A side for the tour of Australia to play two first class games in Oct 2024, but he didn't play due to his old elbow injury. He came back in Nov 2025, and made 210 score in three matches against against South Africa A, and won Man of the Series.
