Sukumara Kurup was born in 1946 in Cheriyanad, Alappuzha in the state of Kerala, India as Gopal Krishan Kurup. He is an Indian Criminal. He is the most-wanted criminal of Kerala State who has fugitive since 1984. Nothing has been known of him to date and he is credited as India's longest wanted fugitive. In 2021, Srinath Rajendran made his biographical film named Kurup which was released on 12-11-2021 in five languages.

Sukumara Kurup real name is Gopalakrishna Kurup. He was born in Cheriyanad, Chengannur, Alappuzha, Kerala, India. He is the most wanted criminal in the Indian state of Kerala. In the year 1984, he was accused of the murder of Chacko, a film representative. He did various jobs in the country after losing his undergraduate degree. He eventually joined the Air Force but failed to reconcile with his military life and returned home.
He then forged a document stating that he was dead and sent a telegram to the Air Force Chengannur police. The Chacko murder case is one of the long-standing cases in the judicial history of Kerala. He also allegedly committed the crime to fake his death and claim an insurance amount of about INR 800,000 by killing Chacko.
The criminal is supposed to have fled abroad after the incident. His co-accused, driver Ponnappan and brother-in-law Bhaskar Pillai were sentenced to life-term imprisonment. He then moved to Abu Dhabi. He worked as an executive for a petrol company. He later took his wife (Sarasamma) to Abu Dhabi. She has also got a job as a nurse in Abu Dhabi.
The criminal has been absconding since 1984. The crime branch had suspected that he had gone into hiding after undergoing plastic surgery to change the shape of his face. He is still wanted by Kerala State Police Department Interpol in charge of organized crime, murder, and fraud.
