Usha Kiran Khan has been bestowed with Dr. Usha Kiran Khan for her prolific writngs. She has served as the HOD of Ancient Indian History and Archeology at a college in Patna which is affiliated to Magdh University. She graduated from the famous Patna college in the year 1964. She then did Masters in Ancient Indian History & Archeology from Patna University. For his boook  ‘ Mithila: A Cultural Study’, she was awarded her PHd in the year 1995. 
 
She has won various awards and recognition for her books which she has published in Hindi and Maithali languages. She has published nearly 40 books and most of them have been best sellers as well. She hails from a remote area in Bihar and spent most of her childhood in an Ashram like atmosphere. She became the first writer from that region and has made her state and village proud. Her writings are honest, and clean and not based just on imagination but on experiences that she had over the years.
 
Her stories are mostly villages based as she wants people to know about rural areas of India. All her stories constantly gets published in popular literary magazines and journals. The stories of rural area started fading but she has kept that alive with her beautiful writings. She has been feliciated with the Padma Shri Award by the governmment of India for her work in literature.
