Varun Grover the multi-talentant personality was born on 26-01-1980 in Sundar Nagar, Mandi in the state of Himachal Pradesh, India. He is an Indian Lyricist, Comedian, Screenwriter, Dialogue Writer, Poet, Songwriter, Writer, Author, Singer, Film Actor, Film Director, and Executive Producer who is known for his participation in Hindi movies/television series.

Varun was born in a Hindu Punjabi Khatri family in Sundernagar, He spent his initial years in many places including Dehradun (Uttarakhand), Sundar Nagar (Himachal Pradesh), and Lucknow (Uttar Pradesh). Later, he moved to Varanasi and joined the Indian Institute of Technology (BHU) in Varanasi where he completed his graduation in Civil Engineering in 2003. Then, he started working for a multinational company "Kanbay" in Pune as a software consultant and quit the job within one year to pursue his career in writing. 
 
He made his debut as a writer for the Hindi television series "The Great Indian Comedy Show" in 2004, he wrote comedy scripts for this show from 2004 to 2006. In 2006, he got a chance to write dialogues for the Hindi film "Ghoom". Next, he wrote scripts for several television series including SAB Ka Bheja Fry, Ranvir Vinay Aur Kaun, Oye It's Friday, 10 Ka Dum, Ghar Ki Baat Hai, and Jay Hind. In 2009, he again wrote dialogues for the Hindi film "Accident on Hill Road". 
 
In 2011, he became a lyricist and started writing songs for Bollywood movies. From 2011 to 2015, he wrote songs for several Bollywood movies including That Girl in Yellow Boots, Peddlers, Gangs of Wasseypur, Prague, Katiyabaaz, Ankhon Dekhi, and Dum Laga Ke Haisha. During this period, he received two nominations for the Apsara Film & Television Producers Guild Award for Best Lyrics for the songs Womaniya (Gangs of Wasseypur), and Moh Moh Ke Dhaage (Dum Laga Ke Haisha). He won the Apsara Film & Television Producers Guild Award for Best Lyrics for his song Moh Moh Ke Dhaage. Later, he received so many awards for his song "Moh Moh Ke Dhaage" including the Global Indian Music Academy Award, Mirchi Music Award, National Film Award, and Zee Cine Award. 
 
He made his acting debut in the Bollywood film "Bombay Velvet" in 2015. He was also the lyricist of this film. In the same year i.e. 2015, he made his Bollywood debut as a screenwriter with Neeraj Ghaywan's film "Masaan". He also wrote the dialogues and songs of this film. The film was also the directional debut of the Neeraj Ghaywan. The film went superhit and he got much accumulated by critics. Next, he wrote the story of the television series "Sacred Games" and the Bollywood film "Sandeep Aur Pinky Faraar" in 2021. He was also the executive producer of Sacred Games. 
 
He made his direction debut in the Bollywood film "All India Rank" in 2024. In the same year, he made his singing debut by singing the songs of the Bollywood film "Jigra". He has also published three books to date titled Paper Chor in 2018, Biksu in 2019, and Karejwa in 2020.
