Visu was one of the most celebrated celebrities of Tamil film industry. He was both a film director and a writer. He had also acted in small and silver screen and had also served as a host of several talk shows of Tamil television industry. He started off his cinematic journey by assisting legendary Tamil director K. Balachander. He made his acting debut with the Tamil film titled Kudumbam Oru Kadambam in the year 1981. His directorial film Samsaram Adhu Minsaaram was arguably the best film of his career in which he served as a writer, actor, and director. The film won National Award and was also remade in various regional language films and was also remade in Hindi as well.

He got his first break in the industry as a screenwriter. His screenplay writer debut was through the film called Avan Aval Adhu in the year He after writing the screenplay for few films turned an independent director and made his directorial debut with the Tamil film titled Kanmani Poonga in which he acted as well and played the role of Cricketer Ramkumar. He also acted in films which were directed by other directors in films such as Oomai Vizhigal, Mella Thirandhathu Kadhavu, Vanaja Girija and Nesam among various others. He has also shared the screen with megastar Rajinikanth in films such as Mannan, Arunachalam, and Uzhaippali. He was a legend and in the latter part of his life he was active with charitable works. He established a foundation and through which, he helped the underprivileged people.
