Yalaka Venugopal Rao was born on 26-02-1982 in Visakhapatnam in the state of Andhra Pradesh, India. He is an Indian Cricket Player.

Venugopal’s bat was considered as the magic wand as whatever stroke he played it fetched runs, runs, and more runs. He made his first-class debut at 17 after showing some promising talent. He represents Andhra Pradesh in the domestic circuit. Besides playing for Hyderabad, he has the privilege to captain the India A team and the Board President XI’s in his cricketing career. He was the first “super sub” in ODI cricket, a concept that is now outdated.
 
Undoubtedly among one of the most talented batsman, he has piled on a mountain of runs in domestic cricket. However, he was among those cricketers who couldn’t quite do justice to their talent when it comes to playing for team India and in the few outings that with the Indian national cricket team, he has scored only one half-century in the 16 ODIs that he has played for India. With an average 24.22 and a strike-rate of 60.05, he couldn’t justify his place in the side and once dropped, he was never able to make it to the side again. 
 
In IPL, he played the finisher’s role for the Deccan Chargers in first three edition of IPL. In 2011 auction, he was bought for whopping US$ 700,000 by the Delhi Daredevils. He proved out to be the biggest dud of IPL then and couldn’t justify the amount he was bought for. In 2014, player auctions, he was bought by the Sunrisers Hyderabad for 55 lakhs and currently plays for them in the IPL.
