Antara Mitra is a well-known singer from India, mainly associated with Hindi film industry. She is an Alma Mater of Kolkata University.
 
Born and raised in a town near Kolkata, she grew up in a musical family. She started singing when she was three years old. She did stage singing since she was six years old. She participated in a couple of national TV singing reality shows like ‘Junoon’. She later participated in the second season of Sony television singing reality show ‘Indian Idol’. She was among the top five contestants in the competition. Although she was offered a playback singing opportunity in 2006, she declined and got back to her hometown. Soon, she shifted to Mumbai to pursue a career in playback singing. But, she had to struggle to establish herself in the Bollywood film industry. Her first chartbuster song was the duet ‘Bheegi Si Bhaagi Si’ with Mohit Chauhan from the movie ‘Rajneeti’. Her other popular songs are  ‘Saree Ke Fall Sa’ with Nakash Aziz from the movie ‘R...Rajkumar’, ‘Gerua’ and ‘Janam Janam’ with Arijit Singh from the movie ‘Dilwale’, ‘Jaaneman Ah’ from ‘Dishoom’, ‘Itni Si Baat Hain’ with Arijit Singh from ‘Azhar’ among others.
 
She especially attributes her success to popular music director Pritam Chakraborty, with whom she has worked the most. Not only Hindi film industry, she also has sung in Urdu, Kannada, Bengali, and English. In addition to films, she has also sung at various award functions and made a lot of headlines when she sang Gerua alongside Shahrukh Khan at one such award nights.
