Asha Parekh was born on 02-10-1942 in Mumbai in the state of Maharashtra, India. She is an Indian Film Actress, Dancer, Film Producer, Film Director, Television Director & Television Producer who is best known for her work in Bollywood cinema. She was actively involbe in Indian film industry from 1952 to 1999. She was also known by Jubilee Girl.

At an early age, Asha Parekh mother registered her to learn the classical dance, and she trained the classical dancing from the renowned dance guru's including Pandit "Bansilal-Bharati." She began her career as a (child-actor), and at the age of 10, she got her first break in films by Bimal's Rai who was so impressed by her dance performance and he decided to cast her in his movie Maa in 1952, and she used to cast again in Rai's movie "Baap Beti-1954".
In the early period, she played many roles as a child artist. At the age of 16, she did not decide to continue her schooling. This time she was determined to make her career in acting. In 1959, she made her acting debut as an actress from the Nasir Hussain directed movie Dil Deke Dekho along with the co-star legendary Shammi-Kapoor. Just after this film, she had a fruitful and pleasant relationship with the director Nassir Hussain. Who was willing to sign her for his upcoming movies such as Baharon Ke Sapne, Jab Pyar Kisi Se Hota Hai, Caravan, Phir Wohi Dil Laya Hoon, and Pyar Ka Mausam.
Nassir Hussain was the key person in her life who made her a star overnight, and she earned considerable success in the Hindi film and became the top leading heroine of '60s. The ace director Raj Khosla casting her in the tragedienne roles in Do Badan, Chirag and Main Tulsi Tere Aangan Ki. These films gave her the image of a serious actress. She was keen to change her image time-to-time acc to the demand of the characters. She played the dramatic roles in the Shakti Samanta directed films "Pagla Kahin Ka and Kati Patang."In addition, she obtained the Filmfare awards under the category of "Best Actress." She also appeared in Gujarati films such as Akhand Saubhagyavati, which was a commercial hit film. In the subsequent time, she not only acted in the Hindi and Gujarati films but also she appeared in Kannada and Punjabi films.
In the 90's she started to play the supporting roles like mother, sister, and Bhabhi. But she did not like this phase of her acting career as a side actress (Supporting roles). One of her friends suggested her to start another inning as a television director. She started directing the serials, and later she formed a production company named "Akruti," and under her production house, she produced so many Tv-serials such as Baaje Payal, Palash Ke Phool, and Kora Kagaz. From 1994 to 2000, she was the president of "Cine Artistes' Association" and from "1998 to 2001”, she was the chairperson of the Censor Board of India. In the latter part, she became the "treasurer" of the CINTAA (Cine and Television Artists Association). Her autobiography called "The Hit Girl" was released in the year 2017.
